I found this picture online and it seemed like the type of atmosphere I was thinking we want to facilitate with this project, and put it together with some quick words. The literal stencil was just something that wouldn't leave my head, and I guess the question is what is it's architectural replacement.

steve, i like the sporadic assembly of a diverse crowd. space in this case becomes an outcome unlike in a conventional meeting point where space is already there. and thus, space [there by architecture] becomes momentary. have you heard of 'swarming'? it is distribution of a message to a mass group that engage spontaneous interactions.
